Teaching Philosophy
As a teacher, constant growth and improvement is always my number one goal with my students, as well as myself. I aim to facilitate a positive environment with a lot of energy, passion, and connection while also pushing my students with challenging technical exercises and choreography. I believe that growth comes from both encouragement and being pushed beyond comfort zones, so I strive to find a balance that allows each dancer to feel supported while also motivated to reach their full potential.
I strive to create an inclusive, respectful, and educational environment where every student feels as though they are important and have a voice in the classroom setting. I do not force my voice onto my students work, but rather help them to discover their own voices while equally guiding them throughout. I value individuality and creativity, and I want my students to feel confident in expressing themselves authentically, knowing their ideas and perspectives are valid and welcomed.
As a teacher and choreographer, I continuously develop as an artist and educator in order to make sure my students are receiving the most up-to-date and exceptional dance education they can. I actively seek out new knowledge, perspectives, and experiences that I can bring back into the classroom. I learn from my students and fellow teachers on a daily basis, as well as different individuals in the dance community, as being a student helps me be a better teacher. I believe that staying open-minded and adaptable is key in creating meaningful and relevant learning experiences.
I also place a strong emphasis on building confidence, discipline, and a strong work ethic within my students. Beyond technique and performance, I want them to develop skills that will support them both inside and outside of the studio. I encourage perseverance, self-awareness, and a willingness to take risks, understanding that mistakes are a necessary and valuable part of the learning process.
I want all of my students to leave my class feeling as though they walked out a better dancer than they came in and that, in the future, they will be prepared to succeed in anything they aim for. More importantly, I want them to leave feeling inspired, empowered, and proud of the work they have accomplished. My goal is that the lessons they gain in my class extend far beyond dance and stay with them throughout their personal and professional journeys.
Artist Statement
Dance is both my language and my leadership practice, shaping the way I communicate, create, and connect. With training in various styles, I have developed a versatile movement quality that balances technical precision with expressive freedom. I value strong foundational technique, musicality, and clarity, while also embracing vulnerability and emotional authenticity in performance. I am drawn to storytelling through movement and to the power dance holds in building confidence and community. As the founder and leader of my college dance team, I learned that artistry extends beyond the stage. It lives in mentorship, collaboration, and the cultivation of spaces where dancers feel both challenged and empowered. My work is grounded in discipline, creativity, and intention, and I approach every rehearsal and performance with a commitment to growth and purposeful expression.
